Adrian J B Brady has been a consultant cardiologist and Director of the Hypertension Service and Echocardiography Service at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary since 1996. His research interests lie in coronary heart disease (CHD), hypertension, heart failure and pulmonary embolism. Dr Brady is the principal investigator for the Healthwise database of CHD patients (40,000 patients), principal UK investigator and member of the steering committee in the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Pulmonary Embolism Trial, and principal UK investigator of the IMPROVE-IT trial. He is an Executive Committee member of the British Hypertension Society (BHS) (2004–2008). He was chairman of the British Hypertension Research Group between 1992 and 1996, and a member of the British Society of Cardiovascular Research Executive Committee from 1996 to 2000. Dr Brady was Visiting Professor of Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in 2004. He was winner of the British Cardiac Society (BCS) and American Heart Association (AHA) Young Investigator awards in 1993.
