Overview
e-SPACE CARDIO-RENAL-METABOLIC 2022, held on 4-6 March 2022, was the second edition of the global online conference on cardio renal metabolic diseases.
The organisers, under the direction of a world-renowned scientific committee, brought together leading experts in cardiology, nephrology, and diabetology to share clinical practice strategies in treating the inter-related diseases now affecting hundreds of millions people worldwide.

Faculty Biographies
Fausto J Pinto
Professor of Cardiology
Fausto J Pinto, MD, PhD, FESC, FACC, FASE, FSCAI, is a Professor of Cardiology at Lisbon University Medical School and a Senior Consultant at the University Hospital of Santa Maria. He also serves as Director of the Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute. Professor Pinto serves or has served as President of the Association for Research and Development of the Faculty of Medicine (2004–2010), Chairman of the Congress Programme Committee of the European Society of Cardiology (2008–2010), President and Founder of the European Association of Echocardiography (2002–2004), and Councillor of the European Society of Cardiology (2004– 2006). In addition, he serves on the Editorial Board of several international journals and is Editor in Chief of the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology. Professor Pinto graduated from Lisbon University Medical School in 1984 and completed his cardiology fellowship at Santa Maria University Hospital in Lisbon and Stanford University Medical School, where he…

Dr Saldarriaga completed her undergraduate studies in Medicine at the Jesus Maria School in Medellin in 1994 and went on to continue her studies at the Medical School at the University of Antioquia in 2002. She then went on to complete her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Antioquia in 2008.

Stefan Anker
Professor of Cardiology
Prof Stefan Anker is professor of (Tissue) Homeostasis in Cardiology & Metabolism at Charité Berlin, Germany, since June 2017. Prodigious researcher who has authored more than 1,000 articles. He has also won several prizes, including the 2018 Copernicus Prize of German DFG & Polish FNP. In October 2020, he was awarded a Doctor honoris causa of Medical University Wroclaw, Poland.
Prof Anker has been serving on the board of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC since 2006 and was HFA President from 2012 to 2014. He currently chairs the HFA committee on regulatory affairs. He is founding Editor-in-Chief of the first open-access heart failure journal, ESC Heart Failure. Prof. Anker has served on several ESC Guideline task forces.
